While shopping at H & M for the perfect birthday gift for the bf (btw, I picked out an awesome gray sweater that I thought I could wear too. Is that wrong of me – to think of myself on his birthday? Oh well…), I picked up the Autumn 2009 H & M magazine. I must say it’s an awesome free magazine with great images and amazing content. One article that stood out from the rest was Shop Smart (pg. 26 – 28) by Henriette Couet.

The tagline: “Go treasure hunting, remake old clothes or trade with a friend. Intelligent shopping is a trend that has come to stay.”
So after reading the tagline, I analyzed my shopping smarts:
“Go treasure hunting” Check. Besides thrift stores, secondhand stores and good ole garage sales, I dig for treasures in the bf closet all the time.
“Remake Old Clothes” Check. I remake and revamp mom’s clothes, my clothes and most recently the bf clothes.
“Trade with a friend” What friends? Just Kidding. Check. Because I considered my mom and the bf my friends, though they don’t take my clothes. I just take and take and take.
So looks like I’m a smart shopper! I pass the test! Now you try? You think you pass? Though the article is under the trend category, I don’t consider it a trend but more of a smart lifestyle. You got to read it; Pick one up or go to their website to read it.
Couet shared: “Sarah Bailey, Deputy Editor at Harper’s Bazaar, has some tips for autumn 09. For example, she thinks stealing (well, borrowing) from the ones you love is a great idea: Take your boyfriend’s suit jacket and belt and go. The exaggerated mannish shoulder will look fantastic and will bring out your silhouette right up to date. Trust me.” Ha! Even Bailey says it’s okay to steal! So boys, stop being a neighborhood watcher and unlock your closet now! And let the raiders raid in triumph! She must have stumbled over mybfcloset.com. I wish.
Okeydokes!
Raid and create.

P.S. I hate leather jackets, Agnes. It’s such a snobby style that only the bad boys wear; and if they are bad – you gotta say away from them. Right? Obviously, it’s like a red caution sign to stay away from them. There’s only one exception to wearing leather jackets: when you actually need it for body protection when you are riding your hot Ducati Monster. Speaking of bikes and leathers, I think it’s hilarious seeing Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes wearing black plastic leather pants (also know as pleather) in that Transformers Revenge of Fallen scene when she visiting her bf Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf. I know it’s hot (according to you lusty guys) but least wear real leather pants to make it seem functional. My opinion – pleather cheapens everything!!! I know pleather leggings is the in thing – but I hate it!

It looks uncomfortable, cheap, really sweaty in hot weather, prone to make camel toes more obvious. Remember, when it comes to glamor and grace – you want to look like you belong on the red carpet, not the street corners. What bothers me the most is how your butt cheeks will blind everyone with that bright glare.

I always saw H&M as one of the best stores for low cost high fashion since I first saw the store in NY back in 2006. I got a pair of M65 jacket for 32.00 bucks! I was so shock when I saw the price tag. Then I was happy to hear that they finally reached the West Coast. Now all we need now is Uniqlo. Please, you crazy investors, give the West Coast a Uniqlo store!
BTW, speaking of shopping smart don’t forget Nov. 14 H&M will be releasing another collaboration this time with Jimmy Choos. Imagine?! Jimmy Choos shoe’s for 100plus! Only a few store will be carrying the collab including the SF branch. <a href="http://stupidfresssh.blogspot.com/2009/06/h-x-jimmy-choo.html"CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO. Just sucks that I missed out on the last H&M collab with Comme De Garcon.
