Work & school, we all do it. So life gets busy sometimes. I go to class straight from work sometimes, and finding the right outfit in the morning that transcends the work-school environment is sometimes tricky. I don’t have a bunch of work clothes, and sometimes work clothes aren’t appropriate for school anyway, and vice versa. And changing between school and work just seems unnecessary. So I decided to make something!
1. Inspired by Mai & Jessica’s creative recycling of undies, I stole a (really old) pair of boxers from Matt and cut off the elastic part for a waistband. It was a little big, and I want to have the skirt hug my waist, so I took it in about an inch with the sewing machine.
2. I found an old t-shirt in my graphic tee pile that had this nice elegant silhouette pattern of trees and cut off the sleeves & neck.

3. Much like in Jessica’s vlog for the Bubble Top, I folded the top of the t-shirt over the elastic band. Only I pinned the shirt roughly in place, and then used a sewing machine to sew it. Do not sew on the elastic to the t-shirt.
4. Skirt was kinda long, so I took of 5 inches and hemmed it.

5. And voila, new skirt, suitable for school or work (maybe even out for drinks?!). Shown here with a brown woven belt and teal tank.

Still got a pile of tees, slowly making my way with scissors & thread through them all. More soon.
happy making,
