So how many of you got this fierce hot chick in your inbox from Forever 21′s new grand opening event in Great Mall, Milpitas the other day? Fierce eh?

What makes her fierce is that “accessory” on top of her head that completes her whole bad_ _ _ rocker outfit. That’s right! It’s her gigantically fat pompadour.  Though there are many ways to sculpt a pompadour, it’s main essence consists of combing the sides of the hair back and combing the top front of the hair forward and curling over itself.  The Pompadour became a fashion trend in the 1950s among male artists and actors. And the guy that you can immediately associate this trend with is The King of Rock n’ Roll – Elvis Presley! Hello Your highness!

Some curl the front few inches of their hair like John Travolta in Grease, while others comb their hair back and push it up like Elvis Presley & James Dean.  Somehow the women decided to grab hold of this style in the first few years of the 21st Century.  Agnes believes it was Gwen Stefani who started this pompadour rave for women with her hairstyle in her Hella Good music video. And years later she began to perfect her pompadour with something snazzy like this:

Though Gwen may have brought it into a fashion trend, Rihanna made it a hotter item because it’s Rihanna – the good girl gone bad. And then other female celebrities became a fan.

Star Wars’ Queen Amidala – Natalie Portman (OooooWeee, she’s too hot, rocking that hair) & Butterface Fergalicious Fergie of Black Eyed Peas.

Though the pompadour may be closely associated with Elvis, it was originally invented by Madame de Pompadour of French Court in the 18th Century. That’s right, a female! She invented the white pompadour wig that signified nobility & wisdom, perhaps that’s why the King of Rock & Roll took over this trend.

Enough of this history channel, why don’t you pomp it up with a pompadour! I’ll do & share my pomp tomorrow since it’s a visual overload on this entry. Tehehe

Until then raid & create,
Jessica :)
