One weekend at Tristan’s, we had a How I Met Your Mother marathon. As we were watching (Season 3, Episode 19 to be exact) I couldn’t help but notice Lily’s top and how cute it was!!! Here! I clipped some frames for you all so you can look for yourself!!!

For those of you who follow the show, you would know that Lily Aldrin (played by Alyson Hannigan) is a kindergarten teacher with a bit of a spending addiction; especially when it comes to designer clothes (good taste too!). I wish I knew the name of the person who designed this top, but I know most of you will agree with me when I say her outfit is definitely influenced by the sleek and very masculine tuxedo–and in this case, a very casual, reversed tuxedo. Good one Lily! This is definitely one of my favorite outfits from the show!

Let’s do a side by side analysis shall we?

1.) As you can see, Lily’s top has an exaggerated collar, much like Mr. Tuxedo’s dress shirt.

2.) I know the picture is small, but if you look at the other frames, you can see how similar her top is to the dress shirt Mr. Tuxedo is wearing–black buttons, pleats and all.

3.) No, Lily isn’t wearing a blazer, but the black material on her top creates an illusion similar to Mr. Tuxedo’s blazer.

4.) Although the tuxedo is meant to be worn during formal events, Lily’s white capris make her outfit more casual and easier to wear.

5.) Lily completes her outfit with black peeptoe heels while Mr. Tuxedo would complete his with leather court shoes.

See the similarities now?

Alrighty guys, that’s all I have for now, but keep checking out the blog for more entries!!!

P.S.

Merry Christmas (Eve) everyone!
