The BF has been doing a bit of Spring cleaning and decided to donate his boxer shorts over to me since he didn’t want them anymore. And quite honestly, I would see why he didn’t want them anymore–even I did not want them! Despite it’s old age and hideous (I mean HIDEOUS!) patterns, no clothes should ever go to waste. So out of pity, I took them.
I remember reading Amanda Brooks’ I Love Your Style: How to Define and Refine Your Personal Style in her Minimal chapter about giving a little “wink” and splash could “throw off the the seriousness and rigor” of that minimalist look.

That little “wink” and splash could be a string of pearls around your neck, a fresh flower in your lapel, or better yet, add a flower brooch that you made!
And with that in mind, I decided to take one of the BF’s boxer shorts and turned it into my new flower brooch. Yeap, I decided to use his ugly pear pattern one (Haha, well he had this for over 10 years now, so please understand its vintage condition). Ug-a-ly!
And after < 20 minutes, you get something beautiful like this to wear! Amazing, huh?!
It was actually one of my talented friend, Megan Moore who inspired this piece. She made a multipurpose flower accessory that could be worn as a brooch or a hair piece for the USF Tri-Gamma 45th Annual Fashion Show. Anyhow, it is a super easy creation.
And there you have it! Enjoy the Brooch A La Boxer! ![]()
Can you believe something ugly and old could bloom into something beautiful?!
