The first time I saw these harem pants on a fashion email newsletter, I was like “Oh my goodness! What the heck IS that?!” But I’m not going to lie, I’m actually starting to like these large parachute pants. Perhaps it’s because of the gloomy, rainy weather here in the San Fransisco Bay Area, that I just want to snuggle in something baggy, comfy yet fashionable.
It was not until I came across my favorite comedian of all time that I began to appreciate it even more. Ah yes, my mister Charlie Chaplin.
Not only was he a comedian, a film director and composer, but I would definitely say he became a timeless fashion icon.
Looking at my collective female Chaplin impersonator photos, I would say it’s safe to blame this legendary guy for these silly fancy harem pants and, of course, the bulgy bowler hat trend. Read More Bowler Hat by Anjelica »

At Spring’s Fashion Week 2011 in Paris, Designer John Galliano (who have designed for famous people like Kylie Minogue, Charlize Theron, Rihanna, Lucy Liu, and Mary-Kate Olsen) showcased his Chaplin inspired outfits and with an edgy dark twist.
Though many love to impersonate Charlie Chaplin (both guys and girls) for the fun of it, he has truly been a fashion icon. So for tonight’s homework assignment: raid your bf’s closet and put together a Chaplin outfit and add your own personal touch, whether it’s edgy, sexy, cute, sweet or even straight ugly.
